What a week...I was going to post earlier, but I figured if I waited a few
days there might be more, and I was right.
This post is different from my usual posts...I have added some of my own personal commentary about some of the absurdity that I see in the stories. Feel free to ignore that (or don't...nobody listens to me anyway, so just do what you want).
On Wednesday, Jude released a statement to
Entertainment Weekly that he is going to be a father again.

That set off the feeding frenzy. Blogs went crazy and named Kayleen McAdams, sister of Rachel McAdams as the mother-to-be. The "source" for this appears to be a blind item, which didn't even really fit the situation, but hey, why care about the truth when you can be first!
The Mirror reported that Jude found out when he got a call from the mother-to-be.

Star Magazine now has a story with a statement that denies that Kayleen McAdams is the mother-to-be. I especially like the last line of the article, since Star rewrote their story, but don't mention that.

Anyways, by Thursday,
TMZ had identified the baby's mother as Samantha Burke.

The
London Evening Standard has some quotes from Samantha Burke's mother. They also have some speculation from a LA family law specialist on child support issues.

Now, it's time to start the tabloid game of "what new angle can I add to this story". So, be prepared for all of the usual twists and turns and contradictions.
First up,
The Sun claims that Samantha Burke is New York socialite who plans to take him to the cleaners.

Next, it's
The Sun again, which is claiming that Jude is in a panic over some photos Samantha Burke has of him. Let me see if I get this...he let a woman he barely knew take embarrassing photos of him, doesn't speak to her for months, then after she tells him that she's pregnant he suddenly becomes worried about the pictures? What? An aspiring model/actress with embarrassing photos is only a concern when she's pregnant with your child? I guess fear of pregnancy hormones is much stronger than fear of greed...or maybe it's all crap, and there are no pictures?

Next, we've got
The Daily Mail, which claims that he was first contacted by Samantha Burke's lawyer, then spoke to her by phone. They also claim that there has been no DNA test and that Jude has said it's unnecessary, but he's worried that this will cost him a lot of money. So, he's worried about the huge cost, but doesn't think it's important to make sure he's the father?
Oh, also, Jude is vain neat freak with a housekeeper that
discreetly disposes of underwear from Jude's various conquests. If this is being reported in the Daily Mail, then is she all that discreet? Because either she's waving this underwear in the faces of people running to the tabloids or she's telling people about all of the underwear. Either way, there is a certain lack of discretion involved.

Next, one of my favorites, from the
Daily Star. A lot of this is a rehash, but there are a few gems in there. It starts with the quote about Samantha Burke being "terrified" to tell Jude that she was pregnant (I love how every article has to put that word in quotes...I'm starting to think there might be some kind of international law, so I'll do it just to be safe).
Now where was I...oh yes, "terrified" Samantha Burke. Well, apparently, according to the Daily Star, Miss Burke has gone from "terrified" to demanding £10million (boy that pair grew in quickly). BTW, that £10million is significantly larger than the $50,000/month thrown around by the London Evening Standard. $50,000/month for 18 years is $10.8M, while £10million is about $16.5M today. So, really, he should just take that $50,000/month - think of it like a 35% off sale.

Finally, we have The Mirror...yes, that bastion of truth, justice, and the tabloid way...(ok, that's pushing it, but I'm feeling a little silly right now, so cut me some slack).
The Mirror claims that Jude hasn't called Samantha once.

So, to wrap things up. According to all of the reputable news agencies...
Jude Law and Samantha Burke had a fling that was somewhere between a "two-night stand" and a "two week fling".
By the time she dicovered she was pregnant, Jude had returned to London, and she didn't know how to reach him. So, she contacted his publicist, because "She didn't want to go to his lawyer because she was afraid that then Jude would think she was only after his money."
She informed him that she was pregnant by either calling him out of the blue or by having her lawyer send him a letter (because contact via her lawyer wouldn't look like she was after money, only his lawyer creates that kind of impression).
Jude has known about the pregnancy for either "some time", for the past 3 weeks, or for about a week. There has either been a DNA test or not. Despite reportedly being upset about the affects of these events on his children and the possibility of huge child support payments, he's not demanding a DNA test. He's either been "responsive and supportive" or has been "stressing and upsetting" Miss Burke by not contacting her.
Sadie is either very non-chalant ("It's not my problem.") or she's terrified and distraught.
So...there you have...clears it all up, doesn't it?
On a serious note, I know most of what is being written is crap, but I really hope that there has been a DNA test or there will be. If his and his children's lives are going to be turned upside down, then he should make sure it's really his child.
BTW, I do have some pictures, which I'll try to post this weekend.
